Global software major Microsoft will incubate 10 early-stage technology start-ups in cloud computing, internet and mobile using its Accelerator for Windows Azure programme to help them build businesses, a top official said on Wednesday. "The start-ups will have access to our resources such as BizSpark programme and $60,000 in Azure credit through BizSpark Plus programme to take advantage of the cloud," Microsoft India (R&D) Managing Director Amit Chatterjee told reporters here unveiling the programme in the Indian sub-continent. German business software maker SAP, which on Wednesday announced the acquisition of web-based software maker Ariba for $ 4.5 bn, is eyeing smartphone-based software and cloud computing in Indian and Asian markets to drive growth. “Our mobile software shares SAP infrastructure on smartphones across different platforms like iOS, Android and RIM, giving customers absolute freedom on which platform to use,” Stephen Watts, president, SAP, Asia-Pacific Japan, told HT. “The share of mobility has gone from nil to around 8-10% in our revenues in Asia in just five quarters, and there is a massive opportunity here on.” Here is the complete story
